I used his body to forget the pain until the line we drew was buried under muddied water.

I used to believe in three things:
That true love only existed once, heartbreak couldn’t kill you, and everything happened for a reason.

But if that were true, I never would have watched Daniel McCray get married to another woman, have a beautiful baby girl, and pass away before my very eyes.

Everything I believed was I lie.

Until I met them.

I can’t believe we’re even having this conversation. “You’re not the boss of me, Easton. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings about your friend doing the piercing, but it’s not the end of the world. And it would be money all the same if you let me pay. Why are you being so stubborn about this?”
“Not the boss of you,” he repeats, a slow smirk curving his features. His body turns to face me, towering over me when he straightens to full height. “I seem to recall that differently, especially when we’re in your bedroom and you’re begging me to bury my cock deeper inside you. Hmm. Have you forgotten how much you moan my name when I lick you, or how you pull my hair to go faster, or plead for me to fuck you just the way I know you like?”
My thighs press together as heat sweeps over my body. He knows what he’s doing because he chuckles like this amuses him. But I don’t find his mood swings funny. “What does that have to do with anything?”
He leans closer, brushing his lips against my ear as he speaks. “I should have been the one to give you what you wanted today because I know what you want. Just like I know what you sound like when you come, what it feels like when you squeeze my cock with that tight pussy of yours, and how loud you get when you don’t have to hold back. You want freedom, Piper. You always have.”
When he draws back, I’m stunned speechless. He takes advantage of it and shoots me a wink, causing my lips to part. He’s never winked before. And it’s … wow. Between those words and that gesture, I’m not sure I can properly fathom a response, and he knows it. Which is why, this time, he walks away first.

Yet again Ms Celeste has taken me on an emotional ride with Into The Clear Water. I love this authors books because they are guaranteed to make me feel and this one surprisingly even brought a tear to my eye.

Piper is a great character. She’s strong, independent and a fighter. I loved how nothing kept her down for long. There were times when I disliked her though. She can be closed off emotionally and she does some things that I didn’t like but she needed to help her grow. The men in her life had me all conflicted! I picked my guy and I was 100% on his side wanting him to win the girl but the other guy is a really good man and he’d be perfect...just not for piper in my eyes anyway.

This story is emotional. It’s got a love triangle of sorts going on but it’s not as angsty as I was expecting. I loved seeing the change in Piper throughout the book, to see her accepting and moving on made me feel all warm inside. This book is definitely worth a read.

Excerpt

We walk for what feels like forever until I see a large sycamore tree in the middle of a field of purple flowers. It seems out of place, yet perfectly set at the same time.
Kaiden walks over to it and sits down, leaning his back against the thick trunk. He seems at peace, which is a new look for him. His body is eased as he stretches his long legs out without a care in the world.
I stare. Not just at him, but at the tree. It’s huge with its long branches and bright green leaves transitioning into yellow and orange and red that give the space a beautiful kind of life. Lo would have loved this spot. She would have dragged me out and stayed here until Mama called our names in frantic worry. Lo always wanted to be free, out in the open, surrounded by trees and plants and animals.
Suddenly, the tears that had finally stopped falling on the way over begin building again until everything blurs. Bottom lip trembling, I hear Kaiden’s heavy sigh.
“What’s wrong now?”
I answer silently what my emotions won’t let me speak aloud.
Lo was buried under a sycamore tree.

PROLOGUE

Mama’s eyes are golden when she cries. Not like mine, which are a murky shade of dirty pool water—not fully green or brown, but a mixture of the two. Though when I was just shy of ten years old and saying goodbye to my sister, Mama told me that my glassy gaze was speckled with emeralds just like Daddy’s.
But Daddy wasn’t at Lo’s funeral. Not when the pastor spoke the eulogy to the half-empty church, or when the slow toll of cars paced the streets to the cemetery, or even when they lowered the kid-sized white coffin into the ground. Mama and I watched every step of the way. Her eyes trained on the half of her heart sinking into the dark soil, never to be seen again, while mine stared off into the distance waiting for Daddy’s familiar face to appear.
Looking back now, Lo had suspected the end of our parent’s marriage long before Daddy packed his things and left. She always knew it’d end that way.
I wondered what else she knew.
Mama wipes a stray tear from her eye, hoping I won’t notice how they glisten in the fluorescent lighting of the drab white room. I want to tell her I’m all right, that everything will be fine. But the weak attempts of comfort would roll off her tense shoulders in disbelief.
When Lo was diagnosed with lupus it was too late to save her. The disease had eaten away at every piece of her—body, skin, and organs. Nobody knew what would happen if it’d gone untreated for too long. No matter how hard Mama tried controlling the disease, it couldn’t be fought.
Logan died in her sleep.

Age is just a number.

Just like he's just a boy and I'm just a girl.

Except that's not true, is it?

Because fifteen may be a number, but it's bigger than that. Bigger than us.

It's a number that separates us.

An excuse that keeps us apart.

But I'm not willing to give in until I get what I want.

After all, how many other girls can bring a grown man to his knees with one little smile?

“Show me how to play,” I say.
Her body leans back as her brows pinch with a dubious stare. “You want me to teach you how to play piano?”
I nod. “The song you played. I like it.”
She blinks, brushing her fingers through her hair. “It’s about learning to love people’s faults and pain for what they are. Beautiful.”
My head cocks. “Why is that?”
She wets her bottom lip. “I guess when you love someone, you don’t get to choose which parts. You’re getting every single piece of their being, scarred or not.”
Her eyes trail to her hand, scarred with white and pink marks. My fingers graze over each one, causing her to suck in a breath and freeze as I caress the marred flesh. They’re rougher than the rest of her hand, but part of her nonetheless.
Meeting her eyes, we stay like that for a few long moments. Neither of us says a thing or moves an inch. We just remain touching, staring, being there in one another’s company.
Then I pull away. “What are the keys I need to learn for the song?”
She exhales then shows me the basics.
It’s a silent admission between us.
Your scars are beautiful, Charlie.

After reading The Truth About Heartbreak I was desperate for more from Ollie. Sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for! This book was everything I was hoping it would be. It was forbidden and emotional and so addictive. The characters have this undeniable connection with an underlying chemistry that just seems to get better and better. I love anything or anyone off limits so I was stuck firmly on Ollie getting his HEA.

This is only the second book I’ve read from this author and each book has been impossible to put down. I don’t want to go into the story because I truly believe everyone should experience it for themselves but if you like an age gap romance with characters that will make you fall for them and plenty of angst, this is the book for you to check out. It may not be for everyone, it’s not what I’d personally class as taboo but if you can keep an open mind then I highly recommend this book. I can not wait for more from this author!
