The Queen of Angst once again lives up to the name. This book slayed me. If I could give it more stars, I would in a heartbeat.

I’ve read nearly (if not) all of Ms Robinson’s books and I can’t think of one of her men that I haven’t loved from the start...until Cash came along. He won me over a little in From The First Verse but I still wasn’t his biggest fan. By the end of Til The Last Lyric i’d admitted defeat and accepted that I couldn’t not love him. Journey was the star of this book for me, even though it is Cash’s story. I love everything about her, the woman she’s turning into and her devotion to Cash.

I expected some twists and turns, like I’ve said I’m not new to this author so I always brace myself for the unexpected when reading her books. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, could’ve prepared me for the twists in this book. I was picking my jaw up off the floor more than once. It was like bam, bam, bam with the twists, leaving me wondering just wtf was going on. And I cried! I have to put that in my review because we all know this author lives for her readers tears. Wasn’t expecting to get teary eyed over what I did but it was like emotion overload. Ms Robinson has always had a talent of playing with her readers emotions and this time she really went all out. The angst, the emotional punches, the twists, turmoil and conflict, were all done in that way that only M Robinson can do.

I 1000% recommend this book! Especially if you’re an angst lover. You need Cash and Journey in your life!

From The First Verse by M. Robinson

Release Date: March 24

Dear diary,
Once upon a time…

There was a girl with long golden hair who had the truest, bluest eyes that turned white when she cried.

She lived in a kingdom far, far away in a tower made of stone, but her mind was made of glass that she kept sharp as knives.

Where her memories hid behind her darkest doubts.
Her deepest thoughts.
Her diary became the only thing she could rely on.

No one saw through her looking glass.
No one cared.
No one tried.

Until the villain presented himself as the hero in her life.
He took and took and took some more.

With no regret.
With no shame.
With no apology.

The page never turned.
Their story didn’t end.
Tomorrow never came.
His life of debauchery was their journey to nowhere.

She’d give anything to go back in time.
To walk where she had walked.
To see what she had seen.
One step.
One breath.
One day at a time.
Though in the end, “I love you” were just words.

That destroyed us inside.

As usual with my reviews for this author I’ll be staying well away from the actual story. It’s always best to go in knowing as little as possible especially with this book.

Cash McGraw...what can I say about Cash? I wasn’t his biggest fan from what I’d seen of him in other books. I haven’t hidden the fact that I disliked him and I had some serious doubts that Ms Robinson could make me like him when it came time to read his story. And now I’ve finished the first part and I’m still not sure how I feel. I think the best way to describe how I feel about him is I love him but I don’t always like him? I didn’t like some of the things he did or the way he went about things. I didn’t always like the person he was but at the same time I understood why he was like that even though I didn’t agree with his actions. He wasn’t the only one that left me frustrated with their actions though, I was extremely angry with a certain somebody and also very disappointed in them. Cash’s story takes us from his teenage years when he’s chasing his dream to years later when he’s living it. He’s a tortured guy and his story is an emotional one. It’s hard not to feel for him and for what he’s lost.

I will forever picture Journey as been this sweet, adorable little girl who’s always dancing but she’s growing up in this book and I’m loving the young woman she’s becoming. I can’t wait for more of her.

This book is told mostly from Cash’s pov and as we get his story it’s so easy to see the unbreakable bond that’s between Cash and Journey. I’m already impatiently waiting for the next book. I’m desperate to find out what’s going to happen with Cash and Journey and I’m counting down the days until I can find out. Another angst ridden, addictive story from Ms Robinson.

I should have told her everything.
How much I loved her.
How much I've always loved her.
But I didn't.
I couldn't.
I just wasn't made that way.
Instead... I claimed her.
Teased her.
Taunted her.
Worshipped her.
Until... I broke her.
My best friend.
My savior.
My girl.
From my mind to my heart, to every single bone in my body.
She owned me.
I was hers.
Every look.
Every kiss.
Every touch.
Every tear.
It was always her.
The only thing I feared more than losing her was forgetting her.
I hated how much I needed her.
She was mine.
Always and forever.
I hated her then.
But Harley Jameson was about to find out how much...
I LOVED her now.

I couldn’t remember a time before her... Harley Jameson.

Before she owned me.
Hated Me.
Needed me.
Before I hated her…
Things were simple.
We had an understanding.
Bully. Fight. Hate. It’s what we did.
Mind. Body. Soul. It’s how we loved.
I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did.
She was mine.
Always had been.
Always would be.
Nothing altered that.
Not how much I hated her.
Not how much she hated me.
Especially, not how much I hated…
That I LOVED her.

I always knew I was going to love this book but even I’m surprised how hard I fell for Jackson and Harley’s story. I loved getting the full back story of them as youngsters right up until they’re teens, it really helped me understand their love/hate relationship. The banter, the pranks, everything about these two was perfect.

Jackson comes across as a little jerk at times but that boy is so bloody loveable it’s unreal. I was torn between wanting to slap him and wanting to hug him. This kid will make your heart ache. The relationship he has with Harley is a constant battle to get one up on the other, Harley is just as stubborn as Jackson and with a daddy like Creed it’s really no surprise that she won’t give in, especially to a boy. Harley is adorable (she’d hate me to use that to describe her but she is). She’s sassy and got a potty mouth on her, she’s sweet and loyal, head strong and strong willed. She’s a fantastic character.

I’m not going into the story, I truly believe this authors books should always be read knowing just the basics. M Robinson’s first enemies to more romance gives you the angst and tension you expect from her work but also a new fresh feel that’s ridiculously hard to put down (I didn’t put it down once, I couldn’t even if I’d tried). Be warned it is part one of a duet so there is a cliffhanger that will leave you counting down the days until you can get your hands on Love You Now but it’s so worth it. Read this book, read it now!
