Release Blitz & Review...Heartache & Hope by Jay McLean

Heartache and Hope, the first book in Jay McLean’s Heartache Duet is now
live and available in Kindle Unlimited.

Ava Diaz needs saving.
She just doesn’t know it yet.
Just like she doesn’t know a thing about the boy she sits next to on the first day of senior year.
He thinks she’s a brat.
She thinks he’s entitled.
Maybe first impressions don’t always last…
Because Connor Ledger’s about to save her.
He just doesn’t know why.

Excerpt:

They look like fireflies. The way the water falls from the sky, illuminated only by the streetlamps.
I stand in the middle of the road, barefoot and barely breathing, my arms out, face to the sky.
I don’t know how I got here.
When I climbed out of my window, the sun was just setting and now… now I’m surrounded by
dark skies and false hope.
I know I should go home.
That I should face my fears and tackle them head-on.
My mind travels the right roads at the right time to get me there, but my heart…
My heart takes me to Connor.
Outside his bedroom window, mud seeps between my toes, and the frigid air creates
goosebumps along my skin. I raise my fist and tap, tap, tap on the glass.
A moment later, a light turns on. And then nothing. I tap again, my heart racing.
The blind lifts and Connor appears, his eyes squinting. It’s clear he’d been asleep, or close to it.
Hair a mess, he’s shirtless, the obvious beginnings of bruises mar parts of his torso, and I look down,
shame filling every part of me. I bite down on my lip as he slides the window up. “Jesus Christ, Ava.
What the hell are you doing?”
His warm palms meet my soaking wet elbows, and then his entire body is cocooning mine,
lifting me off my feet and into his bedroom. My feet land on his soft carpet, and I look down at the mess I’ve made.
“I’m dirty,” I tell him.
Inside and out.
Dirty, dazed and damaged.

I am absolutely blown away after reading this. This book is something else. I can’t move past Heartache and Hope and to be honest I don’t think I want to. Jay McLean may have taken a short break from writing but she’s come back better than ever with a truly unforgettable story. This book is pure perfection. There’s no way I’ll ever be able to do this story or it’s characters justice so this review is going to be super short and sweet.

I went into this book thinking I knew what I was getting into. I was so wrong. I never expected to be bombarded with so many emotions while reading this. I didn’t expect to still be thinking about the characters days after finishing. These characters are so easy to love, they don’t have perfect lives and if anyone deserves good things it’s these two. It’s not even just the two main characters that will make you love them. Trevor...I fell so hard and fast for this guy. The more I found out about him the harder I fell and I’m desperate for more from him.

There’s so much love packed into the pages of this book, it’s hard not to like nearly every single character. But it’s not all sunshine and flowers. I had a sense of foreboding, a feeling of desolation that made my heart ache and made me cling to my hope that it was all going to be okay in the end. This story is sweet, it’s sad, it’s everything in between. It really is an emotional rollercoaster read.

Heartache and Hope is a must read. It’s a story that will stay with me forever and an all time favourite of mine.

Except that's not true, is it?

Because fifteen may be a number, but it's bigger than that. Bigger than us.

It's a number that separates us.

An excuse that keeps us apart.

But I'm not willing to give in until I get what I want.

After all, how many other girls can bring a grown man to his knees with one little smile?

Excerpt

Prologue
Charlie / 16

The hands gripping my waist are the wrong size. They’re too eager, too desperate as they trail around my back and cup my butt. I don’t like them. I even push them away. But they always come back, gripping, kneading, demanding.
He wouldn’t do this to me.
His hands are perfect.
But he’s not here anymore.
The music gets louder, but not enough to drown out the memories I have of him—the feel of soft kisses trailing down my naked back, or a hand brushing through my hair, or hushed murmurs promising me we’d be okay.
I can’t do this.
Placing my hands over the stranger’s, I try losing myself to the music. His groin to mine, our hips swaying. It’s not enough though.
I need something else. Something more.
Just one more shot.
Just one more pill.
We used to promise each other one more day, because we knew it was wrong. Neither of us could give each other up. We were addicted.
“Charlie …”
“Tomorrow.”

Cover Reveal...Sever by T.L. Smith & Melissa Jane

Title: Sever
Authors: T.L. Smith & Melissa Jane
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: July 18, 2019
One man’s wife is another’s obsession.
We had a love I thought could never be broken. But I was wrong. We weren’t as strong as our vows once promised.
Dark secrets and vicious lies, they tore us apart.
They cut too deep, leaving open wounds.
Pain is something that should ever come from the man you love. Forgiveness, understanding, tenderness, yes. But never pain.
But the fact remains. He is my husband and I am his wife. Perhaps he should have remembered that a year ago when he committed his first sin against our marriage. And perhaps then, I wouldn’t have fallen for the devil.
A devil who had me in his sights from the very beginning.
A devil who swore to never let me go.

Birdie walked away from Winter five years ago leaving him devastated. When they meet again Winter is determined to get them both back on track and there’s no way he’s letting her walk away again. This book was a little different to what I’m used to from this author. It’s low on angst and drama and instead concentrates on the characters and their relationship. I found it to be more emotional than I was expecting. The love between Birdie and Winter is enough to melt the coldest of hearts and you’ll be just as desperate as Winter is that they can find a way to leave the past where it belongs and find their hea.

I’ve read most (if not all) of the Storm MC series and this can definitely be read as a stand-alone. If you’re looking for a book with two mature characters trying to make their love work, this is the book for you.

Release Blitz & Review...The Kiss Plot by Nicole French

Jane and Eric de Vries.
Often enemies. Sometimes lovers.
Husband and wife. Or are we?

I wore the dress. We said the vows.
And somehow it became more than just a stunt to collect his billions.
A promise bound by love, not hate.
Until he humiliated me in front of all of New York and disappeared.

Now my errant husband has returned, and it's like I never existed.
Except when he looks at me like he wants to rip my dress from my body.
Something's holding him back. And I won't rest until I discover its cause.

See, this wild heir is about to find out: karma's a fickle mistress.
My weapons? Batting eyelashes, high heels, and that red lipstick he can't resist.
I'll break down his mask, little by little. And then I'll make him pay for what he did.
I just need to keep my heart in check while I do it.

Eric de Vries.
Looks like millions. Worth billions.
A body like the David with a mind to match.
Unfortunately for this wayward heir, to keep his money, he needs a wife.
And of all the women in the world, he chooses me.

Too bad I've hated him for five years, since he took all my tears and tossed me away. The guy slept his way through half of New England and discarded women like hotel toiletries.
Been there. Done that.

Still...what would you do for twenty million dollars?
Would you wear the dress?
Fake a smile for the man who broke your heart?
Or would you run far, far away?

Yeah, that's what I thought.
I'll see you at the church.

Nicole French is an East Coast/West Coast hybrid creature, Springsteen fanatic, hopeless romantic, and total bookworm.

When not writing fiction or teaching writing classes, she is hanging out with her family, playing soccer with the rest of the thirty-plus crowd in Seattle, or going on dates with her husband.

In her spare time, she likes to go running with her dog, Greta, or practice the piano, but never seems to do either one of these things as much as she should.

The Kiss Plot picks up from where The Hate Vow left us and things are not looking great for Jane and Eric. I loved Jane in this instalment. Her determination and strength of character really shine in this book and coupled with her witty humour she’s easy to like. Eric shows a softer more vulnerable side that I couldn’t get enough of. Determined to keep Jane safe no matter what he knows what he needs to do. Stubborn Jane has other ideas though and she’s not going to make any of it easy for Eric.

This story has got me hooked. The angst, humour, suspense, not to mention the sexual chemistry between the two main characters had me unwillingly to put my kindle down. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Jane and Eric and I will be cheering them on right until the end.
