Ransoms story is the first book in Laramie Briscoe’s LSERT series and it gets off to a great start. Having read the MTF series (which does NOT need to be read before this) this was like been back among old friends.

Ransom and Stella have known each other for forever. Their dads work together so they’ve spent plenty of time around each other growing up. Things change when an emergency happens at Stella’s work and Ransom is the responding officer. It’s not long before they decide that they’re going to give a relationship a go and see what happens between them, but with Ransom working with Stella’s dad and have mutual friends they decide to keep it quiet for the time being.

I really enjoyed this book. There’s no massive dramas, no angst, it’s just two mature people knowing what they want and willing to make compromises to make things work, albeit without anyone knowing. Stella and Ransom are both easy to like characters and I can’t wait for more from the LSERT gang.

At the stadium’s concession stand, I took a tall stool, putting Georgina and I at eye level since she stood. “So, why didn’t you kiss François?” I asked. “Bad breath?”

She gasped into her hand. “My breath is fine.”

“I meant his. I’m sure yours is pure relish on a hotdog.”

She made a face. “Gross.”

“I happen to love relish,” I said. “But does François?”

Each time I said François with flourish, she flinched. I didn’t care. Something about him bugged me—I just couldn’t put my finger on it.

“We didn’t kiss because you interrupted us,” she pointed out.

“So? If I were in his position, and we both wanted that kiss, I wouldn’t let anyone stop me.”

“Frank and I are clicking,” she said, scowling. “There was even mention of spending time at his summerhouse.”

“Hamptons?”

She coughed into her fist. “Boca Raton.”

The idea of Georgina spending a summer with him in Boca Raton was tragic enough that I almost smiled. I got the sense she was playing up the date. I love romances that go from hate to love, throw in the whole working together and I’m all over it. 

Sebastian and Georgina don’t get off to a good start when Georgina is brought in to help get the magazine back to the top and Sebastian feels as though his toes are been stepped on. Everything about these two is absolute perfection. Their banter and chemistry and the depth of their character drew me in and quickly had me hooked. You get a real feel for the true person behind both Sebastian and George and the more I got to know them, the more I could relate to them which made them really easy to like. There’s also some brilliant supporting characters that I’d love to see more of (hint, hint). 

This is another brilliant book from Ms Hawkins. It made me laugh, it made me swoon and it completely sucked me in, I couldn’t put this book down.

You need to read Raw before this book as this is a continuation of that story. 

Unlike most people I was happy with the way Raw ended and never expected another book but the second I found out Twitch was coming back, I knew I needed this book. I hated/loved Twitch so I was desperate to find out how his and Lexi stories were going to end. 

Raw: Rebirth throws us back into Lexi and Twitch’s world and nothing could prepare Lexi for what’s to come. Having found a way to carry on, the last thing Lexi is expecting is for a face from her past to walk through her door. I loved Lexi. She’s strong, a brilliant mum and the perfect match for Twitch. Twitch is the same Twitch we all came to know and love in Raw but in Rebirth he’s an older, more mature, less selfish Twitch but he’s still got that don’t give a fuck attitude and will take on anyone that threatens his family. 

This book was definitely worth the wait. It’s got a little bit of everything. Regret, forgiveness, hope, danger, action and some absolutely brilliant characters. Ling in particular is a truly fantastic, albeit psychotic, character and I couldn’t get enough of her craziness. 

A brilliant book and although I’m happy with the way it ended I’m still secretly hoping well eventually get another book featuring the Raw gang.
