Blurb

He taught me to kill. Murder is in my blood now. It runs through my veins and though I hide the monster I see in the mirror with ink, it doesn’t keep him from coming out.

My street name is Mercy, but I never show any. Except for her. I watch Becca, though she doesn’t know. She saved me a long time ago; the day my father killed my mother. Her bravery turned her into a target.

My father holds a grudge and knife with the same proficiency, and Becca is the focus of his hatred. And I’m the only monster who can save her.

Author Bio

Debra Anastasia likes to write from her heart, her soul or her butt. The genres she dabbles in are examples of that. There are two paranormal romances in the Seraphim Series and now four contemporary romances in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series and a stand alone in the same genre, Mercy. Fire Down Below and Fire in the Hole, Booty Camp Dating Service and Beast complete her comedy repertoire. The Revenger, a dark paranormal romance, is finally in the light, and the last, a novella called Late Night with Andres, is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research.

Debra lives in Maryland with her two kids, husband of twenty years and two dogs. The king of the house is clearly the tuxedo cat that is the size of a small donkey. Find about her latest adventures on DebraAnastasia.com

GOODREADS

This is the first book I've read by Debra Anastasia and I had no idea what I was getting into. This book sucked me in from the start. I literally couldn't put it down.

Fenix (or Mercy as he's known as now) is just a boy when he sees his father brutally murder his mum. Traumatised and in shock, he's not expecting a brave little girl to have such an impact on him. I fell for Fenix immediately. He is the perfect tattooed, troubled bad boy but there's a lot more to him than just that. He's very protective of those he cares about, he's intelligent and literally everything he said or did had me swooning so damn hard.

Rebecca is the complete opposite of Fenix. Working as a waitress and trying to fight her mothers attempts to marry her off to what her mum deems as the perfect man, Rebecca has no idea how much of an impression she made on a young Fenix. Unbeknown to Rebecca, Fenix has been keeping an eye on her all these years and he's a little obsessed with her. When her boss throws a theme night, Fenix's opportunity to finally speak to Rebecca presents itself and from this point on I didn't put this book down.

I've already said how much I love Fenix but Rebecca is just as likeable. She looks beyond appearances and sees the real Fenix. She's a tough cookie and her and Fenix are a match made in heaven. Of course, Fenix is keeping some pretty big secrets and when Rebecca finds out about them, she's less than impressed. With danger closing in on them both, Fenix will do whatever he has to to keep his loved ones safe.

I've been in a bit of a funk lately but this book cured that. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the characters are unbelievably easy to love. Fenix's best friend Animal is another fantastic character. Between him and Fenix I was a hot mess reading this book. The bond between them is super sweet at times and I'm dying to get more of Animals story. I highly recommend this book if you have a thing for hot, super sexy, tattooed book men who have a surprisingly tender side hidden beneath that tough outer shell. This book has enough action to keep your attention and some super hot chemistry between Nix and Becca.
