Title: The Bars Between Us

Author: A.S. Teague

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About The Bars Between Us:

I don’t have a damn thing in common with the beautiful rich girl who walks in to my bar. She’s southern class, fancy cars, and designer shoes. I’ve got a drunk for a mother, a cheater for a father, and a reputation for trouble I’ve more than earned. I look the other way, pretending I don’t notice how perfect she is. She wouldn’t give me the time of day anyway. Until she shatters that first impression and shows me she’s so much more––everything I never thought I deserved. After a lifetime of being a disappointment, I want to prove to her that I’m better than my past. We have one tragic thing in common, and the thread that binds us together will tear us apart as it unravels. Are we strong enough to break through the Bars Between Us?

About the Author:

A.S. Teague enjoys the warmth of South Carolina with her husband and two daughters. The stereotypes about peach cobbler and sweet tea are not overstated. After years in the medical field, she is now enjoying every minute of being a stay-at-home mom. She loves wine, the beach, wine on the beach, and crying at Disney movies. When she doesn’t have a book in her hand, she can be found pestering her husband with pictures of animals she wants to rescue, as well as debating whether to exercise or take a nap.

I loved Grace. She's tough, independent and I couldn't help but like her and the way she handles herself. Grace takes a nursing job that takes her back to the coastal town that she lived in when she was younger and that holds some of her most precious memories. On her first day she meets troubled barman Bronn. Bronn's suffered his own tragedies and his past still haunts him. With a reputation for been trouble, he's sarcastic, got that bad boy vibe about him and he keeps himself closed off from everyone, mostly to protect himself. The more I found out about Bronn, the more I loved him.

After a rocky first meeting, Grace and Bronn find themselves spending more time together and they fall into an easy friendship. Sharing parts of their pasts with each other brings them closer and things are going well. Trying to move on from their pasts neither are expecting the bombshell secrets that eventually get exposed. Left to deal with the aftermath, both characters have to find a way to move forward either together or on their own.

I loved this book. I've read all this authors work and I've come to expect certain things from her books. I expect characters that are easy to like and relate to, the chemistry between them to be off the charts. I expect a connection between them, an emotional story that is going to make my eyes well up but that's got some bits that make me smile. This book delivered all that and more. Bronn and Grace wormed their way into my heart and I honestly didn't want their story to end. A really good, emotional romance that I highly recommend you read.
