Blurb

Haunted by a photographic memory, I couldn’t escape the worst night of my life.
The blood they shed.
The pain they endured.
The evil that still walked free.
It was all I saw. Those memories, my childhood—the images.

Silenced and scarred.

But nothing lasts forever.
Torment turned to blinding rage. Hate sought revenge, which pursued death.

Author Bio

Leddy Harper had to use her imagination often as a child. She grew up the only girl in a house full of boys. At the age of fourteen, she decided to use that imagination and wrote her first book, and never stopped.

She often calls writing her therapy, using it as a way to deal with issues through the eyes of her characters.

She is now a mother of three girls, leaving her husband as the only man in a house full of females.

The decision to publish her first book was made as a way of showing her children to go after whatever it is they want to. Love what you do and do it well. Most importantly Leddy wanted to teach them what it means to overcome their fears.

★★★★★ Five Stars

Eight year old Killian is already a sheltered, complex boy but after witnessing a horrific attack, he becomes even more closed off and isolated. Living with a photographic memory means he's reliving his nightmares every single day. When he moves in with his Aunt Elise three years later, it gives him somewhere to lay his roots and also introduces him to ten year old Rylee. With Rylee, he finds a friendship unlike any other he's ever had. Rylee's way of just accepting him helps to bring Killian out of his shell. With a friendship that grows stronger over the years, the two of them begin to make plans for the future. When those plans don't go as expected, they both end up heart broken and lost. Five years later they're paths cross again and this bit is where I really got into the story. Having been completely consumed by their story, the need to know how it ended was killing me.

I adored this story. Killian broke my heart while making me fall in love with him. Even though the characters start off as kids, been there to experience their journey as they grow older and mature made me connect really well with them both. Killian is a complex character, he's been through too much to be any other way. Rylee is the only person who can calm him down. She's the strong one in their relationship at the beginning but after been left devastated by Killian once before she's not in any rush to open herself up to him and her conflicted feelings are easy to relate to.

This book has a fantastic story, characters that I absolutely loved and their chemistry is off the charts. I can't recommend this book enough.
