Review...Out Of Ashes (The Sons of Templar MC Book 3) by Anne Malcom

Title: Out Of Ashes
Series: The Sons Of Templer #3
Author: Anne Malcom

Living a life in darkness causes the soul to char to ash. Battling demons by turning himself into a monster is the only way he can survive...the only way he can keep a grip on sanity. That grip is precarious at best, every day is a silent battle with demons that threaten to yank him into the truest form of darkness, the abyss he’ll never escape. Then it happens. Light shines through the cracks.

Happiness. Mia Spencer’s life is full of it. She has an amazing new job, friends, family, and the light of her life - her daughter Lexie. Running from the demons of the past, escaping a hell that she vowed Lexie would never know about, she worked through hardship and near poverty to create something she was proud of. Buried deep inside, underneath the swell of love she had for her only daughter, were the fractured pieces of her. Pieces that were smashed and battered when she was young and vulnerable.

Then she meets Bull, who seems to hate her on sight. He screams danger, from his huge physique, to his beautiful ink, to the motorcycle club he belongs to. He is silent, his glares threaten to burn her into flames, yet she finds herself falling for him. Finds this broken man slowly fixing the pieces she thought would stay shattered forever.

4.5 STARS

This book starts with an insight into Bulls tragic, heartbreaking past. After losing Laurie, the love of his life, Bull has never fully recovered. Determined to never love someone again, to lose control and possibly hurt or lose them, he's built his walls up so high, nobody is going to break them down. Until he sees Mia. Fighting his demons on a daily basis, he does not want to feel what Mia makes him feel and he's determined to fight it. After spending the last few years trying to quiet his mind, he struggles to understand how been around Mia silences his demons.

Single mum Mia and her 16 yr old daughter Lexie have recently moved to Amber after Mia got a new job as a hotel/spa manager. The bond and banter between mum and daughter is fantastic. It makes it very easy to connect with Mia. She's a very likeable woman. She's independent, a brilliant mum, funny, sweet and a little bit awkward/random which made me love her more. Her choice of eccentric words she uses instead of curse words really tickled me. Even though she's been dealt her own problems in her life, she doesn't let any of it interfere with who she is today.

This is probably my favourite out of the series so far. This book has everything I've come to expect from this series. The characters are really likeable and you get a real sense of family from the club.
Bull is going to make you love him. If you've read the previous books than you'll already know some of his past and the more you get to know him, the harder you'll fall for him. He's a sweetheart. Now I'm even more desperate for Luckys story! After reading Bull's I need to know Luckys story so badly.

Review...Firestorm (The Sons of Templar MC Book 2) by Anne Malcom

Title: Firestorm
Series: The Sons Of Templer #2
Author: Anne Malcom

Amy Abrams doesn’t do love. Nor does she do emotional attachments, unless you count the connection she has with designer handbags. She grew up in an Upper East Side penthouse, which had about as much affection within its tastefully decorated walls as Castle Dracula. Her family is the precise reason why she points her red-soled heels firmly in the opposite direction of that dreaded four-letter word.

Then it happens. Love. It comes right out of the blue and knocks her off her six-inch heels. She learns that love comes with pesky side effects such as heartbreak, which seriously messes with the complexion. Amy promises herself that she’ll never open herself to that horrible feeling again. She doesn’t count on an infuriating, albeit drool-worthy biker to roar into her life and ruin the plans she had of locking up her heart. She keeps her distance, wary of the sinfully sexy biker whose tattoos should read Warning - dangerous alpha male, will screw up your life.

Amy may be an Upper East Side princess but she wasn’t looking for Prince Charming. She wouldn’t mind the name of his hair stylist, though. Brock certainly isn’t a knight in shining armor, but he consumes her, body and soul. Drama pulls them apart; danger will bring them back together. When Amy is threatened Brock is there ready to save her life. Her heart is another story.

★★★★ Four Stars

I really enjoyed this book. Amy is Gwen's best friend. She's not looking for love or anything serious and especially not with someone like her best friends brother. If you've read Making The Cut then you'll already know some of Amy and Ian's relationship but this book delves a little deeper. I wasn't really a lover of Ian in Making the Cut. He was ok. He just didn't do it for me. Finding out more about his relationship with Amy soon had me changing my mind. But nothing's ever straight forward. And then there's sexy biker Lick *insert swoon here*

Lick is a sweetie. I loved him. He's loyal, sweet, sometimes moody, has no problem showing what he's feeling and is determined to show Amy he's in it for the long haul. Amy's not quite as convinced and is determined to push him away.

Full of drama, lots of action and plenty of hot, alpha bikers to love, I couldn't put this book down. Can't wait for Bulls story but I'm still desperate for Luckys. There's something about that biker that's yummy.

Release Blitz & Review...Lick by Torrie Robles

 Title: Lick
Series: Devil's Fury MC #2
Author: Torrie Robles
Release Date: May 30th, 2017

Mothers are supposed to love you. Support you. Protect you.
Not mine, mine did none of those things. – Not one.
My mother taught me that her addiction was stronger than her love for me. Her high was all that mattered.  That’s all she needed, all she wanted. Grown men and women took payment from me, so she could get her fix. They took everything from me, just a child, her only son.
Motherly love? Fuck that.
I’ve spent my life taking from bitches all too willing to give it up - whores, sluts, The Fallen - you name it, I've had a piece of it, of them. It's how I earned the name Lick. I've licked every part of a bitch's body.  Until her -Jenni.
From the moment she sashayed her hips up the dirt path of our clubhouse I knew I was fucked. Curves for days, sweet tits that begged to be sucked. A heart of gold. I know it’s a fucking cliché, but she was different.
She challenged me – Pushed me
Jenni made me see I’ve spent my life being blind, that I was worth something.
She taught me love doesn’t use.
It’s not twisted, it doesn’t hurt and it doesn’t cost a thing.
I’ll do anything to make her happy.  I’ll do whatever the fuck it takes to keep her by my side. She’s far too precious for me, but I’ll be damned if I’ll let her go.

★★★★ Four Stars

Licks childhood has shaped him into the man he is today. He has no respect for women and he's a bit of a pig at times but I still loved him. He's had such a heartbreaking upbringing, full of pain and sadness yet he seems stronger than most people. He hasn't let it ruin his life, he's maybe not the happiest man ever but he's doing ok. Jenni seems to bring out a different side to him though. He's not quite as crass around her. They're polar opposites, Jenni's upbringing couldn't have been more different to Licks, she has a naivety about her and she manages to get him to open up and brings out his more caring side.

I loved the build up between Jenni and Lick. The banter between them, the constant circling around one another made me desperate for these two to get it on! Jenni is determined to get Lick to see himself as she does and he finally shows the man he really truly is deep down and let me tell you, he's downright perfect! Perfect!! He did annoy me though. One thing he does (although for the greater good of others) rubbed me up the wrong way and made me want to slap him but knowing his history I soon understood where he was coming from and got over it ;)

There's plenty of twists in this book, it will keep you on your toes. You'll fall in love with the characters and you'll be desperate for a hea. There was one part of this book I hated. Not going to lie I was tempted to make a voodoo doll of a certain author and start sticking pins in it. Overall though I really enjoyed Licks story. The characters are easy to connect to, they're brought to life as you get to know them and there's two special characters that are absolutely adorable and bring so much to the story. Now I need Hawks story. I've been patient. I've waited since I read Sin but my patience is running out now. I need to know what's going on with him so I'm going to be counting the days til I get his story.

Emerson

Everyone thinks they know who I am. I’m that reality TV star that fell in love with co-star Wesley Rich. But reality wasn’t my life. It was the life I lived in front of the cameras.
A life designed to entertain millions of watchers each Monday night.

It only took one night to relive my past, and one night to forget my future. With someone who had been there all along.

Logan

Soccer is my life—it’s in my blood.
I train hard, I play hard, and I win.  Nothing will break my focus.

I should have been able to avoid it, resist the temptation. But it’s there, playing every Monday night, an obsession I can’t seem to shake.

And I don’t know what was harder: hiding it from my best friend, or watching the woman I want live a life with someone else.

Excerpt

“You honestly believe all that rubbish? Falling in love? They knew from the start? C’mon. It’s impossible,” I ramble to myself as Logan quietly stands at the edge. “You can spend a whole lifetime knowing someone and still feel unsure if the love is there. Two minutes in a bar and that person is your soulmate? Ludicrous.”

Logan turns his neck, body following until we’re facing each other. His presence radiates with superiority, just like when we were kids. I wasn’t afraid back then and I am not afraid now. His tough-guy persona doesn’t frighten me one bit.

“Hypocritical coming from someone engaged to a man that swore he fell in love with you the moment he saw you?” he questions, sarcasm lacing every word that left his mouth.

The shock of his words cripples my ability to respond with a witty comeback. We weren’t having a good ol’ laugh throwing worms in the bottom of Ash’s school bag anymore. And my initial reaction to his cruel words does nothing to calm the sea of emotions ravaging inside me. Logan Carrington was one of them. They all came from the same seed. The seed of men that felt entitled. Screw women, move on, fuck feelings and repeat.

“Knock, knock . . . anyone home?”

“You’re a jerk,” I mutter.

I loved this book. Emerson is a tv reality star that's engaged to co star Wesley and is used to having her life dictated to her by her team. Living her life in front of the cameras is harder and more scripted than it looks and she's growing to dislike it. On a rare trip back home, she spends some time with her brother and their childhood friend Logan. Growing up the three of them were always together and up to mischief and I loved how they were when they were back together. I liked the family dynamics in this book. Emerson family reacts like my own would probably do and I loved the close bond she shares with her mum.

Professional footballer Logan comes across as a bit of a man whore but he does have a heart in there somewhere. When Emerson gets some shocking news, Logan is there to help take her mind off it. With a love hate relationship, thousands of miles between them and Emersons personal life imploding, the last thing she needs is this new sexual chemistry between them.

I've read all Kat T Masens other books and the one thing that I love about Kat's characters is that they're real. They have flaws and bad habits just like we do. They make mistakes and you're not going to like them all the time. There's going to be times you get frustrated, when you roll your eyes, when you want to shake some sense into them. And that's what makes it so much easier to connect with them.

If you've read Kats previous books there are some familiar faces that pop up briefly and one hell of a jaw dropping bombshell that floored me. It played on my mind all the way through this book and I'm still not sure how I feel about that just been thrown in there (I'm torn between not been surprised because it's Kat and she likes to do the unpredictable and wanting to be slightly stalkerish until I get more details).

“You know, if you want to see me naked and sweaty, all you have to do is ask, darlin’.”
“I do not . . . I wasn’t . . .” My words are stolen from me as he stalks forward with a maddening smirk on his face. “What are you doing?”
“Getting tired of waiting for you to be okay with this.”
“August, we talked about boundaries.” I press my hand to his chest because he's too close, and I can't think straight with the heady scent of his sweat and sandalwood soap distracting me. It wasn't my intention to run my hand over that sweat, to feel the hard-won muscle beneath, but here I am, petting him as if he's my favorite kitty.
“No. You talked about boundaries. I told you I was gonna fight, and I ain’t above fightin’ dirty.”
“How dirty?” I breathe.
August’s lips curl up into a smile. “So dirty.”
Both hands snake around my waist and he lifts me onto the counter, wedging his hips between my thighs. He hooks a finger in the sash and unties my robe as if he were opening a gift made just for him. I wrap my legs around his hips to pull him closer, and that’s all the admission he needs. He threads a hand through my hair and pulls my neck back to expose the tender flesh to his mouth. I close my eyes and whisper his name as my whole body turns to flame, starved for the oxygen that only his touch can bring. His hot mouth trails down my neck, his hands cup my breasts, squeezing, kneading, and I slide a hand between us, into the waistband of his shorts. I take his hard length in my hand, stroking him from base to tip. August grunts as he pushes my negligee out of the way with frenzied hands. His fingers find me bare and exposed with no panties.
“So fucking’ dirty,” he groans, wetting his lips.

4.5 stars.

Olivia helps army veterans by finding a dog to pair them with to help them live with their PTSD. She's fully invested in Paws for Cause and helping both man and dog. When she decides to open a new clinic in Magnolia Springs, it lands her on August Cottons doorstep. I loved Olivia. Shes got her own secrets. She's determined and pushy when she needs to be. She's loyal, caring and dedicated to helping others. Finding herself in a small town that love to gossip, she knows she's got a fight on her hands to win the locals over including moody August.

August has moved back home following the deaths of his parents. Left with his adorable 4 year old sister Bettina to look after, he's trying to do what's best for her whilst dealing with his own problems. He's troubled, broody and not really a people person. The last thing he wants to deal with is the sassy, stubborn woman who turns up on his doorstep.

My favourite thing about this book was the slow burn. The chemistry between August and Olivia is there from the start but it's left to simmer while they build a friendship. With Olivia feeling like she's taking one step forward and two steps back, and August needing to accept who he is, it's plain to see it's not all going to be smooth going. This book sucked me in. I was so invested in the characters, not just the main two but others that are introduced and dealing with their own problems. The tone of the book is perfect. There's a depth and a real ness to the characters that makes them feel like real people. Carmen Jenner has this ability to make you feel like you're right there with them. The PTSD storyline is written brilliantly. Without glamourising/glossing over the issues faced, she manages to make you really think what these veterans have to go through once they're back home and the ongoing problems they face on a daily basis.
